Help!!!

A MOTHER’S DESPARATE PLEA

Dear Readers,

Today is a day of awakenings. We are realizing we must retrench our custom of over spending. Some don’t have the luxury of tightening their belt they have no belt to tighten.

Such is the case of Emily White. Let me tell you a little about her. She is a quiet girl with a dimpled smile that is worth more to her mother than life itself. Emily was always conscious of others needs, when someone was down she left her shy world to encourage and brighten another’s day.

As a health aid she washed everything that didn’t move, floor, sheets, and maybe a window so her patient could have a view of the world outside.

Then came time when she would wash their hair, their body, paying special attention to any sores or abrasions that needed to be reported to the head quarters of the health care company she worked for so the patients nurse could be alerted.

Emily left her job of eight years to move to California to be closer to her husband’s family. California wasn’t kind. With repeated hardships she had a miscarriage and she wanted that child so much. She and her husband had been trying for two years.

Heart broken, but not her spirit, she returned to Utah the state of her birth. She wanted to know why she couldn’t get pregnant and what if any was the explanation for her miscarriage. She went to a very smart doctor and while she was there mentioned she had a lump on her throat. The doctor took the time to do extra test that indicated cancer.

Conferring with specialist she had an operation and had her thyroid plus a few other spots taken out including damaging her voice box. Emily can talk but so far she has lost her lovely singing voice.

Then came radiation, she said she wouldn’t mind several operations if she could do without the radiation. Unfortunately, she didn’t get her wish. She has had to have yet another operation on her throat but I’m getting ahead of myself.

Right after her first round of chemo unexpectedly she became pregnant thirty days later putting a stop to any further cancer treatment until the baby was born.

Tyrell DeShawn was born on July twenty-fourth. Her miracle baby and the sunshine in her life got to go to work with her the first six weeks Emily was back on the job. Yes she went back to work for the same health care company as a secretary in their main office.

After her second operation they let her go, they needed a full time person. Emily due to the ill effects of her operation and the responsibilities of a new mother could only give a part time performance.

She really had no business struggling to work as it was but her husband hasn’t been able to entirely support the family. His income just wasn’t enough. The surmounting medical bills and soon to be COBRA premiums must be paid.

The company did say after she gets well she can apply once more for another position. Regrettably, she has chemo in two weeks and what new employer will hire her when she must take an unquestionable immediate two weeks off. Due to her new baby and the fact that she will be radioactive she must take that long in the hospital.

Emily still has an encouraging word for those that are down but what of Emily. How will she support the family the next three months with the outrageously high COBRA medical premium and also pay for the prior month that she’s behind. Though her families are together and are helping her as much as they are able, it is not enough.

In tightening your belt can you spare some cash to help support Emily the two months it will take for her to get on her feet and get past this chemo treatment?
